Most of us know her from The Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World. Or from her numerous voice over work. But back in 1999, she released an album. Usually when an actor crosses over into music, the results are disasterous. Even I was skeptical at first. But she had Lenny Kravitz, ex-husband of her best friend Lisa Bonet, producing her entire album. I figured if he's co-signing her, then she must have some talent. This album took me completely by surprise. Not only was Cree a good singer/songwriter, Lenny dug deep in his bag of tricks for this one. They came up with a blend of folk, soul, and rock. I played my CD so much to the point it skipped. Unfortunately, the album wasn't really given a chance to find its audience. Cree was dropped from her label and her music career pretty much ended at that point. I recently found her album on amazon.com and purchased it in mp3 format. I've been playing it everyday since then.
